Our nursery has been established since 1988 and was taken over by Joanne Smith the owner in June 2015. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, homely and caring setting, while providing quality early years education in a beautiful rural location. We are open 51 weeks of the year from 8am-6pm. We are a 26 place nursery and we cater for children from 0-4 years.

We are situated in the idilyc village of Shrawley, surrounded by beautiful countryside. We are attached to Shrawley village hall and have two floors.
Our nursery consists of our Baby room, Toddler room & Pre-school room. Our nursery is very small, offering limited spaces. This is to ensure all the individual needs of the children are met in a calm, nurturing environment.

At Little Squirrels we know that for children to effectively learn they need to feel welcomed, secure and loved. Our ethos is about creating a homely, calm, welcoming and friendly environment. We want children and parents to feel that they are coming into an extension of their home. With kind, nurturing staff that create just that, all while delivering rich learning experiences and early years education.

We believe that children should have the freedom to be the leaders of their own play and learning, with educated ,skilled staff, that understand the early years curriculum & child development. Our staff tailor their teaching to each individual child with our unique learning approach. Ensuring the needs of each child is met.

"Staff provide a welcoming and nurturing learning environment where children feel safe and secure. Children arrive happy and separate from their parents or carers without hesitation. They engage in activities alongside their friends and staff. Children independently access resources and lead their own play."
"Staff have a sound knowledge of the curriculum. They make regular assessments of what children know and can do. Staff use this information to plan interesting and challenging experiences to move children forward in their learning."
" Staff support children to develop a positive sense of self. Babies point to family photos and talk about their families. Staff support toddlers to talk about how they are feeling and place their photos next to characters from the 'The Colour Monster' story.
" They promote fundamental British values, encouraging children to listen, share and take turns with their peers. Staff model good manners and teach children the skills to form respectful relationships with others. "
" Children spend extended periods of the day playing outside in the fresh air. They explore nature on local woodland walks. Staff promote healthy eating. All children enjoy healthy snacks of fresh fruit and vegetables. Children learn about where food comes from as they grow and harvest food in the nursery garden."
